Care Instructions
Kotpad (Sarees, Dupattas and Masks)
- Dry cleaning suggested for first two cleans
- Can hand wash gently at home or dry clean (preferred) for regular use
- Try to avoid contact with naphthalene balls
- Do not bleach
- Avoid soaking and squeezing
- Avoid drying in direct sunlight
Batik (Sarees, Scarves, Tops, Dresses and Masks)
- Hand-wash and avoid machine washing (risk of colour leak in the first few washes)
- Soak and rise before wearing for the first time to prevent colour from draining
- Do not hand dry in direct sunlight
- Do not squeeze or twist fabric excessively
- Avoid using hot iron
Pattachitra and Saura (Paintings)
- Avoid water and other liquids while cleaning.
- Use a soft brush or cotton cloth gently instead.
- Do not leave paintings outside of frame for too long to prevent environmental damage.
- Keep the frame in a dry area if possible to avoid moisture damage.
Hand-painted Sarees
- Store in a cool, dry place, ideally in packaging of some form.
- Do not iron on the hand-painted area directly (press the reverse side), and never use hot iron.
- Dry cleaning is recommended. (Avoid machine washing at all costs)
- Dry in shade away from direct sunlight.
Dokra Artefacts (Momentos and Jewellery)
- Dust with a soft cloth or soft brush.
- To retain shine, use brass polish with a cloth.
- Store jewellery in packaging or in a muslin cloth/ tissue paper.
- Use a mix of baking soda and lemon juice to rinse jewellery. Use a soft cloth to wipe.
